To avoid including any unwanted resources, it is a good idea to use the "Update Assets" option before exporting content from mAuthor. This helps improve and shorten the process of creating XML files, significantly reducing the package size.

To use this function, go to your project, select a lesson or lessons (with the CTRL key), and use the Update -> Update Assets option. All unwanted resources will be automatically removed from the lesson(s). mAuthor also makes it possible to update all assets in one go for all lessons within a project. To use the one-click "Update Assets" option, simply go to the Admin panel -> Projects (or Manage projects) section and select the "Update assets" link visible under a project to be updated. Then, it is necessary to tick the checkboxes next to the relevant publications. All assets in the selected publications will be updated in one go.
