You can switch the view of the layout in the editor in the 'Layout' property of the page in the right-side panel.

At the beginning of creating a multi-layout page, it is good practice to set the appropriate page widths in each layout. If you use a header and footer, you should also set the adequate width for these pages.

As the content remains common for all layouts, it is worth paying attention to the fact that modules added in one layout will exist in all other layouts. You can change the properties regarding the appearance, position on the page, and modules' size, and these features can vary significantly between layouts.
